mallowstreet University Digital Investment Focus: Direct Lending and Private Markets

Private debt markets have always existed, but in a post COVID-19 world, Pension Funds may step in to ease the impending funding gap in a recession. The debt of large-market companies is more commonly traded in the public markets whereas Private debt includes a wide range of investment strategies, which offer investors access to a broad opportunity set that is capable of meeting varying risk/return goals. Many of the underlying investment strategies are not new to institutional investors and have historically been classified under different asset classes such as private equity, hedge funds, and real estate. A part of a successful CDI strategy, it can lead to a natural de-risking of the portfolio over time, which in turn can reduce reliance on the sponsor covenant. These topics, and , will be discussed.

During this online Investment Focus, delegates will break into two rotating Investment Masterclass sessions which will cover key investment opportunities in the area of Direct Lending and Private Markets.

Over the course of the morning you will have the chance to question the speakers and to learn from your peers about how they are navigating their way through the current environment.

This event is FREE to attend for investment decision makers and their advisers and is available for CPD accreditation.

  5. Rotating Investment Masterclass II: Investing in Social Infrastructure: a Dual-Return Opportunity

Social infrastructure is real estate that maintains and strengthens social services, for example: healthcare, education and other civic facilities and social housing. Such projects were once the sole province of European governments, but funding gaps and rising demand have left a multibillion-euro shortfall. There is now an opportunity for institutional investors to participate in the social infrastructure sector and potentially make a dual return: long-term stable, inflation-linked cashflows as well as the impact return of social and environmental benefits to communities.
