mallowstreet, in partnership with Cardano, is proud to announce the return of our third annual survey of the pension trustee community to understand the challenges around Equality, Diversity and Inclusion. This annual report identifies barriers to increasing diversity in institutional pensions, measures improvements year on year, and collates emerging best practice to provide better pensions for all.
About the report:
The mallowstreet Equality, Diversity & Inclusion survey, in partnership with Cardano, is an annual report that identifies the steps trustees are taking to improve diversity and inclusion in institutional pensions and helps the industry work together by sharing best practice and solutions to the most pressing challenges schemes face when starting this journey.
Last year’s survey was completed by 120 pension professionals, who were questioned on key topics such as what EDI challenges schemes and the industry face, the benefits of implementing EDI strategies, and the importance of collecting data.
The research uncovered that a growing proportion of schemes and trustee firms now have an EDI strategy in place. Target setting and data collection are slowly coming into focus as well, which highlights that measuring progress and impact are becoming more prevalent.
This year’s survey will run until 30th September. The results will be shared across the regulatory and investment sectors, placing equality, diversity and inclusion at the top of the institutional agenda.
Stuart Breyer, CEO of mallowstreet, supports the return of the annual research and believes it will help drive discussions and change and progress within the wider pensions industry.
The return of our third annual EDI survey will help spotlight the progress schemes and firms have made, as well as the challenges they face moving forward. Last year’s report uncovered that boards are increasingly prioritising EDI in their policy setting, so we at mallowstreet are excited to continue facilitating the knowledge exchange and progress on this important topic.
Gillie Tomlinson, Head of Trustee Engagement, Cardano, said:
We are very pleased to be collaborating with mallowstreet on the research for a third year running. As last year’s findings showed, the importance of having good and clear data cannot be overlooked. The more insights that we can garner on the challenges and barriers to improving EDI across the industry, the more we can all learn, enabling us to set strategies and best practice to increase EDI for the benefit of schemes and members.
