The DB Endgame Investment Focus on the 6th of March 2025 brought together industry experts to explore strategies for pension schemes navigating their endgame options. Discussions covered investment flexibility, risk transfer, regulatory developments, and evolving market conditions.

Russell Chapman from Hymans Robertson opened the event with a keynote on the future of DB pensions, questioning whether they are becoming extinct or evolving. He examined the role of insurance solutions, affordability concerns, and alternative strategies, highlighting the impact of regulatory changes and shifting market conditions on decision-making.

PIMCO led a session on balancing return potential and liquidity, focusing on flexible credit strategies that adapt to tightening credit spreads and rising interest rates. AXA Investment Managers explored long-term investment approaches, ESG integration, and market volatility, emphasising the need for tailored investment solutions. Rothesay provided a market update on pension risk transfers, addressing insurer dynamics, regulatory scrutiny, and key considerations in buy-in and buyout strategies.

The event underscored the importance of adaptability in pension scheme management, with insights on risk management, investment diversification, and strategic planning to ensure long-term sustainability.
