Challenges of Bringing an ESG Approach to Multi-Asset Credit

ESG has tended to focus on equity ownership historically but has more recently turned towards fixed income markets and how they can influence change. There are relatively few options for investors in areas such as multi-asset credit with simple challenges such as robust data gathering at the forefront.

This session will look at how TwentyFour have faced some of these challenges. How do we rates bonds issues on ESG? Are Green Bonds part of the solution? How do we cope with holes in the data and/or reticence to supply it? What about more complex areas such as CLOs?

At this dinner, TwentyFour Asset Management partner and portfolio manager Ben Hayward will explain why now is an opportune time to invest in asset backed securities (ABS), given attractive yields, improving fundamentals, limited supply and potential for capital gains. Ben, who has been investing in the European ABS market for over 20 years, will show you why there is relative value to be found in this under-researched asset class, and why its risk-return profile is perfect for pension funds.

Ben Hayward Partner, Portfolio Manager
Ben is one of the founding partners of TwentyFour and a Portfolio Manager. He is a member of the firm’s Executive Committee which has the overall responsibility for the day to day running of the business.
Ben’s main responsibility is managing the ABS business, having launched the Monument Bond Fund, the TwentyFour Income Fund and more recently UK Mortgages Ltd, as well as managing a number of institutional mandates. He is a member of the Investment, Risk and Product Committees.
Ben has 20 years fixed income portfolio management experience, having spent 9 years at Citigroup Alternative Investments where he was responsible for managing four vehicles that invested $100bn across asset-backed securities and credit.
