The role of US monetary policy in driving capital flows plays an important role but is often overstated. Capital flows to EM countries are largely influenced by two other factors as well: The growth differential between developed and emerging markets and commodity prices. American Century Investments will discuss how to optimize the risks and return when investing in emerging market debt.

Abdelak Adjriou Portfolio Manager
Abdelak is a member of the firm’s Rates and Currency Markets team and serves as a co-portfolio manager on several fixed income strategies. Before joining American Century Investments in 2016, Abdelak was a portfolio manager at HSBC Global Asset Management, where he managed local rates, emerging market mandates, global and European fixed income mandates and an absolute return government bond fund during his tenure. He started at HSBC as a quantitative analyst. Previously, he was a fixed income trader assistant at Crédit Agricole Corporate and Investment Bank (formerly Calyon). Abdelak holds a master’s degree in stochastic calculus from Jussieu Paris VII and a master’s degree in computer science from ESSI (ENSI Group).
