mallowstreet Real Assets Indaba

Important

Delegates are expected to attend the full event. We do understand that this is a time commitment in diaries. Please do let us know if you need to step away for a call/meeting and we shall adjust your personal agenda.

After more than a decade of low-interest rates, ultra-loose monetary policy and low inflation, the economic environment has changed. For many experienced investors, this unfavourable combination of increasing inflation, rising interest rates, and low growth is problematic.

Exploring the UK’s alternative investment space is often a good starting point when faced with the question: “What should I invest in during inflation?”. Generating real returns is getting more difficult, presenting a challenge for pension funds. All these tensions form the backdrop for our discussions at the Real Assets Indaba. Join us for this full day event which will feature masterclass sessions from four leading asset managers and discussions with your peers.

This event is FREE to attend for investment decision makers and their advisers, and is accredited for CPD points by the Pensions Management Institute (PMI).

*An Indaba (pronounced in-dar-bah) is an important conference held by the izinDuna (principal people) of the Zulu or Xhosa people. The term comes from a Zulu language word meaning "business" or "matter".

  3. Real Estate Investment Panel

Real estate has often been the cornerstone of a pension fund’s portfolio as it offered long term returns and security. In recent weeks, we have seen the demise of WeWork and HSBC leave their Canary Wharf home, leaving many to questions what effects there will be on the UK office market. The London vacancy rate reached 9% in Q3 which is the highest it has been since 2003. In, America too, we are seeing bad loan rates increase to their highest level in a decade, primarily due to ‘peak’ interest rates. Can we expect the same in the UK and if so, what are the consequences of this?

Our expert panel will take on these challenges and your questions as we look for opportunities from across the investment landscape.

With the upcoming publication of the Regulator’s ‘Guidance on Private Markets’ imminent, Chris provides an insider’s view on the reasoning and background need to support trustees in their decision-making. The past twelve months have seen what seems like one crisis after another. Beginning with an ill-fated mini-budget from the country’s shortest serving PM ever, followed by one interest rate rise after another, and inflation at levels unseen for a generation, the base mission of TPR has never been more critical. To protect savers’ money, enhance the pensions system and support innovation in the interest of savers.
