Tom Pearson Investment Development and Fund Governance Manager–Phoenix Corporate Investment Services
Tom is responsible for fund governance and identifying strategic opportunities on Phoenix’s platform. He leads the strategic relationship with external fund managers, ensuring that the funds and terms are the most effective for clients, so they can make the appropriate choices for their chosen investment solutions. He also works hand in hand with clients during major transitions, making sure Phoenix continues to deliver the bespoke and flexible solutions they need. Tom plays a key role in ensuring innovation and product enhancements are at the forefront of Phoenix’s delivery each year, keeping their platform at the head of the market.

Rachel Basarab-Horwath Head of UK Institutional Sales
Rachel Basarab-Horwath is responsible for leading our work with UK institutional investors including pension schemes, corporates and professional trustee relationships, in supporting them to meet their objectives. Rachel also leads our Global Pensions Group to ensure we are leveraging our global experiences to enhance our support to pension funds in each local region.
Rachel joined AXA IM from Mercer where she worked as a Sales Director and a Senior Investment Consultant. Rachel’s previous roles include Director of EMEA Client Services for the Cash Business at State Street Global Advisors and Director of Global Accounts at BlueBay Asset Management.
Rachel holds an MSc in Actuarial Science from Bayes Business School (formerly Cass University) and bachelor’s degree in Mathematics from the University of Sheffield.Director of Institutional Core Business

Lionel Pernias Head of Fixed Income Investment Solutions
Lionel leads our Fixed Income Investment Solutions team, where he holds the overall responsibility for managing €30bn in Buy & Maintain, CDI and LDI portfolios on behalf of third-party client’s across Continental Europe, Asia & the UK.
Prior to this, Lionel headed our London-based Buy and Maintain Credit team, being responsible for the performance of all UK client portfolios. Lionel retains his responsibility in the management of AXA IM’s flagship Buy and Maintain pooled fund, the AXA Sterling Buy and Maintain Credit Fund, along with several sterling and global client portfolios.
Lionel was a key member of the project team which developed and launched the flagship Buy and Maintain Credit strategy in 2012. He initially joined AXA IM in 2006 as a member of the UK Fixed Income team in London, primarily managing insurance portfolios.
Lionel holds a Master’s in Financial Markets from the SKEMA Business School.

Jess Williams Head of Phoenix CIS
Jess leads the Phoenix Corporate Investment Services business, the distribution, marketing and reporting arm of Phoenix’s investment only platform. Jess is responsible for the strategic direction of the business and oversees propositional and service enhancements for our clients. Working closely with a number of major clients and employee benefit consultants to ensure that we continue to meet the ongoing needs of our existing clients. Jess is a Senior investment and pensions professional and holder of the Investment Management Certificate.
