mallowstreet University Dinner: How Climate Metrics and Integration can Guide Credit Investors Towards their Net Zero Goals

Climate change is “widespread, rapid and intensifying”. This ‘code red’ warning to humanity was delivered in the UN’s latest report from the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC).

The good news? By acting together urgently to produce strong and sustained reductions in emissions, scientists believe we still have some hope of limiting the full force of the negative impacts of climate change.

Policymakers, businesses and asset managers are already taking steps. And for many UK schemes this greater awareness of climate-related risks and increasing regulatory drivers has catalysed action. Over dinner, we will explore how schemes are implementing climate-aware credit strategies and harnessing climate metrics to build more resilient portfolios, achieve their net zero goals and fulfil their reporting requirements. Specifically, we will cover:

·    The benefits of the different climate-focussed metrics to consider

·    How to assess portfolios through a climate-related lens

·    Target setting within credit portfolios

·    Adapting or building ‘climate-aware’ approaches to mitigate portfolio risks, target Paris Agreement alignment and fulfil regulatory obligations

This evening session is accredited for CPD points by the Pensions Management Institute (PMI) and is exclusively for pension fund decision makers and their advisers.
