Elizabeth Fernando Deputy CIO, Nest
Prior to joining Nest, Liz was Head of Equities at the Universities Superannuation Scheme and had ExCo responsibility for the Responsible Investment activities. Liz started her career as part of the portfolio management team at Lloyds Investment Managers before spending 25 years at USS. She’s also an Investment Advisor to the British Coal Staff Superannuation Scheme’s Investment Sub-committee and a member of the Investment Committee at the Charities Aid Foundation.
Liz holds an MA degree in Philosophy Politics and Economics from Oxford University as well as an ASIP qualification from CFA UK. She recently passed CFA’s Investing in ESG Certificate.

Geoff Cheetham Independent Investment Consultant, The Pensions RegulatorGeoff enjoyed a 35-year career working in a range of senior executive positions for a number of global asset management organisations before stepping away from his City career in 2017. A large part of his career has been spent focused upon the UK DB and DC Institutional Pension markets defining and implementing appropriate Investment and Governance solutions for the range of challenges that Pension Schemes continue to face today. Geoff works as an internal Investment Adviser at TPR advising colleagues on UK workplace pension schemes’ investment arrangements in the context of both casework and policy matters.

Steven Catchpole Pensions Investment Director, Aviva Staff Pension Scheme
Steven is the Pensions Investment Director for the Aviva Staff Pension Schemes and has over 20 years of pensions and investment experience. His role is to support the trustee boards of the four Aviva pension schemes in the UK on all investment matters including strategy design, implementation, and oversight. The schemes have combined assets of over £20 billion and include defined benefit and defined contribution sections. The defined contribution section of the Aviva Staff Pension Scheme has assets of over £2 billion.
Prior to joining Aviva in 2013, Steven was a senior client manager at Cardano, a fiduciary management and investment consultancy firm. Steven began his career as investment consultant at PwC where he provided strategic investment advice to trustees and corporate sponsors of defined benefit pension plans. Steven is a Fellow of the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries.
