mallowstreet Fixed Income Indaba

Delegates are expected to attend the full event. We do understand that this is a time commitment in diaries. Please do let us know if you need to step away for a call/meeting.

The mallowstreet Fixed Income Indaba* will bring together some of the industry’s biggest influencers to discuss key asset classes and investment opportunities. You will hear from a selection of keynote speakers and take part in four interactive Investment Masterclass sessions exploring the opportunities available in Fixed Income.

This event is FREE to attend for investment decision makers and their advisers, and is accredited for CPD points by the Pensions Management Institute (PMI).

*An Indaba (pronounced in-dar-bah) is an important conference held by the izinDuna (principal people) of the Zulu or Xhosa people. The term comes from a Zulu language word meaning "business" or "matter".

  11. A Trustees View on Approaching Risk

How should trustees consider the risks in their portfolios and how they should use their advisers? Are yields today anomalous, or was it last year’s yields that were wrong? Do risk models like VaR help or just lull us into a false sense of security? To what extent can trustee boards rely on the adviser community? How much common sense is used, or not used in the decision making process?

An experienced independent trustee gives his personal view on these issues from a non-technical standpoint.

  15. Communicating with Members: Responsible Investment and Net Zero

Recent events haven’t put pensions in a great light, and many schemes are hearing panicked messages from members. This is an opportunity to talk to members, to reassure them and help them feel more connected to their money. Caroline’s going to share insight on how to do this – by exploring the why, what, and how of communicating responsible investment. She’ll look at the different approaches pension schemes are taking, and research into how members are responding.
