Alan Collins Alan Collins MSci FIA
Alan heads Spence & Partners Corporate Advisory services and has particular expertise in pension scheme de-risking, funding negotiations and discontinuance from an employer perspective, as well as corporate restructuring advice.
Alan’s role incorporates expert assistance for employers, particularly SMEs, with the key financial decisions that they face with regards to their scheme. This includes increasingly important on-going activity around risk mitigation, data quality and funding negotiations, as well as large standalone events such as contracting out cessation, mergers & acquisitions and entry to the PPF.
Alan has gained significant experience in around 15 years of working for leading employee benefits consultants. Alan has been a Fellow of the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries since 2006 and has held formal Scheme Actuary roles since 2008. -
Ewan Nelson Ewan is an associate in the Eversheds pensions group in London. He qualified as a solicitor in 2003 and he is qualified to practice in England and Wales and in Scotland. Ewan advises private sector employers (including several FTSE100 companies), public sector bodies (including Government departments), insurance companies and the trustees of their related pension schemes. Ewan advises on all issues relating to occupational and personal pension schemes, including scheme design, merger and de-merger, scheme funding and investment matters (including de-risking strategies). Ewan has also advised insurance companies and pension providers on the design of their pension products. -
Fiona Southall Fiona joined AXA IM in 2006 working within AXA IM Distribution and contributed to the development of AXA IMs Investment Solutions business for continental European pension clients. She is currently responsible for tailoring our solutions offering to cater for the needs of our insurance and pension clients in both Europe and the UK . Before joining AXA IM, Fiona spent 3 years at Merrill Lynch working in the Institutional Client Coverage Group with a specific focus on Insurance Companies and Pensions Funds. Prior to that, Fiona was a tax consultant in the Human Capital department at Ernst & Young, Paris. Fiona has a BA in International Business and Modern Languages (specialization Finance) from Strathclyde University Business School. -
Jay Shah Chief Origination Officer
Jay is Chief Origination Officer at Pension Insurance Corporation, heading the Origination and Longevity Risk teams. He has overseen some landmark pension insurance transactions during his time at PIC, including Phillips, Siemens and Cadbury. Jay was previously actuarial adviser and Director of Corporate Finance at PwC and Corporate Development Director at Prudential UK. Jay has over 25 years of experience in the insurance and pensions sector.
