Shalin Bhagwan Shalin is the Head of UK LDI and leads AXA IM’s team delivering risk management solutions for UK pension schemes and insurers. Prior to joining AXA IM in 2012, Shalin held related positions at Legal & General Investment Management where we was Head of Structuring and a core part of the executive team responsible for building the UK LDI business. During 2009 and 2010, working out of Chicago, Shalin also established LGIM’s LDI credentials and business in the US, bringing on board the first US pension scheme clients. Prior to LGIM, Shalin was a pensions and investment consultant with Hewitt and Mercer respectively. At Mercer, Shalin consulted on de-risking strategies and their implementation. Shalin spent the first 10-years of his career in South Africa working for Sanlam in South Africa where he was part of the Executive Committee in charge of the pensions business spanning pension fund investment and risk products. Shalin is a Fellow of the Faculty of Actuaries and graduated from the University of Cape Town with an Honours degree in Statistics and Actuarial Science.
