Brian Chase, Portfolio Manager for Latin America
ex-Brazil will give his overview of the opportunities which are emerging
as the main markets and economies in the Latin America (“LatAm”) region
continue to develop and grow.
In his presentation, Brian will explain that whilst Latin
America is usually considered as one homogeneous region, it actually provides
an opportunity for investors to access quite diversified sources of return and
risk. He will discuss in detail the following Economies:
- Mexico, which is well underway in its cyclical
growth phase, with inflation wellunder control. Its young working age
population and the proximity to the US mean that Mexico is emerging as a real
competitor to China.
- Brazil – a market what has flourished in the
last decade, and continues to offer good investment opportunities across a
variety of sectors.
- The Andean region; consisting of Chile, Peru and
Colombia which has a very strong policy mix, led by Chile’s on-going example
since the 1980’s. This region has experienced above average GDP growth
with low inflation, held in a tight band by active monetary policy and also
offers access to unique investment themes such as oil exploration and
production (E&P) and precious metals.
