David Thompson Chief Investment Officer, Zurich UK
David is Zurich Chief Investment Officer: UK. He is responsible for the Life Balance sheet, the P&C Balance Sheet and the UK Life discretionary managed unit linked policyholder investments totaling £25bn. David started his career as a fixed income trader at Lehman Brothers, and then moved into sales and sales management. David then moved to asset management focusing on insurance companies, before joining Zurich in 2019.

Chris Palmer Chris is former Head of Illiquid Assets Origination at Phoenix Group plc, where he had prime responsibility for the deployment and economic returns of Phoenix Group’s private credit portfolios. Before that, he was an investment director at ReAssure, leading up to the acquisition of ReAssure by Phoenix for £3.25bn in 2020, and before that a trustee and chief investment officer of the company’s UK pension scheme.
At Phoenix, the Illiquid Assets Team originates, executes and has portfolio management responsibility for the Group’s investments in commercial real estate debt, ground rents, infrastructure debt, local authority funding, social housing, private placements and structured finance, including swap repacks. Assets are held in support of the heritage annuity and the open pensions businesses, including BPA. The portfolio has more than doubled in the last three years to £9bn and is expected to double again in the coming years.

Angel Kansagra Head of ALM and Investment Solutions, Lloyd's of London
Angel heads the Asset Liability Management and Investment Solutions team at Lloyd's. He is responsible for investment strategy, asset allocation and investment risk. He also leads the design and implementation of investment solutions on the Lloyd's Investment Platform to provide customised solutions to insurers and capital providers in the Lloyd's market. Angel is a qualified actuary with experience across insurance and pension investment management, and equity research.
