Dawid Konotey-Ahulu CBE DL Co-founder of mallowstreet
Dawid is a serial entrepreneur, having co-founded Redington and mallowstreet with Robert Gardner. Dawid remains involved in mallowstreet as a Board Director.
Most recently Dawid co-founded The #10000BlackInterns programme with Jonathan Sorrell (President of Capstone Investment Advisers), Michael Barrington-Hibbert (founder of Barrington-Hibbert Associates), and Wol Kolade (Managing Partner of Livingbridge), the group which founded #100BlackInterns in August 2020.
Through the #100BlackInterns initiative, leading players in the investment management industry have come together to address the chronic underrepresentation of Black talent in that sector. Since its launch, the programme has garnered extraordinary support with 200 investment management companies offering internships in the Summer of 2021 to Black students in the United Kingdom as a way of attracting a more diverse range of talent to their industry.
Following the launch of #100BlackInterns, the #10000BlackInterns initiative has been designed to help transform the horizons and prospects of young Black people in the United Kingdom. The 10,000 Black Interns programme will offer paid work experience across a wide range of sectors, providing training and development opportunities and creating a sustainable cycle of mentorship and sponsorship for the Black community.

Tony English Head of LGPS Investment, Mercer
Tony is a Senior Investment Consultant and Head of LGPS Investment for Mercer, based in London. In addition to LGPS funds, he also advises a number of other institutional investors, including corporate pension funds and trust funds. Tony has over 25 years of investment experience, having joined Mercer in 1999. During this time, he has been involved in a wide variety of projects, including investment strategy, manager selections, private markets, ESG policies (including climate change) and pension risk transfer. Tony also regularly facilitates trustee training courses. Tony graduated with a degree in Physics from the University of Warwick in 1996. He is an Associate of the CFA Society of the UK (‘CFA UK’), holds the Certificate in ESG Investing and is a regular member of the CFA Institute. Tony also represents Mercer on the Society of Pension Professionals’ (‘SPP’) Investment Committee, SAB’s Investment Committee, and the AIMSE Europe Council.

Joe McDonnell Cheif Investment Officer, Border to Coast Pension Partnership
Joe is currently Chief Investment Officer of Border to Coast - one of the largest LGPS pools in the UK. Previously he spent 15 years as head of portfolio solutions EMEA for Neuberger Berman and Morgan Stanley Investment Management. In these roles he was a senior portfolio manager for key strategic/OCIO mandates, Multi-Asset, Diversified Alternatives funds/mandates and structured solutions. Prior to this Joe spent 10 years in Corporate Pension Plan management as head of investments at Shell International and as Head of Fixed Income for IBM Europe Retirement plans.
Joe has a MA in Economics & Finance from the University of Sheffield and a BA in Economics & History from University College Dublin. He has been awarded the Chartered Financial Analyst designation.
Joe was a trustee director and member of the investment committee for Morgan Stanley Pension Funds (UK) from 2008 to 2018 and has been an Associate Trustee of Great Ormond Street Hospital (GOSH) since 2018.

Max Townshend Head of Investment Strategy, LPPI
Max is Head of Investment Strategy, undertaking both advisory work and implementation of client strategic asset allocations and overlays. Max joined LPPI in 2016 from London Pensions Fund Authority, one of LPP’s founding clients, where he was an Investment Manager for liquid strategies, focusing on internal global equity management and hedge fund due diligence. Max has over 17 years investment experience; prior to working in pensions he had a background in quantitative research across FX, rates and options markets. He graduated from the University of Bristol with a degree in Aeronautical Engineering.
