Tom Green Head of Direct Lending
Tom is the portfolio manager for HSBC’s Senior UK and European Direct Lending Strategies. He also sits on the investment committee for Infrastructure Debt and chairs the Direct Lending Investment Committee.
Prior to joining HSBC Asset Management in 2019, Tom spent 20 years with HSBC Bank principally within its mid-market leveraged finance business. Tom has accumulated a great deal of experience in deal selection and structuring, having successfully deployed over GBP3.2 billion of capital into 135 transactions over the course of his career to date. Tom graduated from Durham University with a BSc Hons in Geography and also holds a BA Hons from UMIST in Banking & Finance.

Barry Mackay Head of New Investment, HSBC Direct Lending
Barry is the Head of New Investment for the HSBC Direct Lending business and sits on the Investment Committee for Direct Lending and Infrastructure Debt.
Barry is highly experienced in financing PE-backed companies, having deployed over GBP2 billion of capital across more than 100 mid-market transactions, and has a wealth of relationships across the private equity community. Prior to joining HSBC Direct Lending in 2019 to help establish the platform, Barry spent 7 years within HSBC UK’s mid-market financial sponsors business, 3 years
in mid-market lending roles with Barclays and 2 years within finance and accountancy roles at Deutsche Bahn.

Tim Bird Head of LGPS Business Development
Tim joined HSBC Asset Management in August 2023, as a Business Development Director. With a focus on developing our institutional business in the United Kingdom with a responsibility for the UK Local Government Pension Scheme. Tim joined from Pictet Asset Management, Prior to that he was at Allianz Global Investors where he was, Director, Institutional Business. He has also held similar roles at T Rowe Price and-spent 12 years at Goldman Sachs Asset Management helping to build and develop their UK and Irish business.
