Over the past few decades, infrastructure has emerged as a new distinct alternative asset class, alongside traditional private equity and real estate. Many institutional investors have recently increased their target allocation to infrastructure on the premise that infrastructure had the potential to deliver a unique investment profile as it gives access to real assets, providing essential services and which by nature offer long term visibility on future cash flows with some inflation linkage and low correlation to other equity markets.
